Check out the poster for Angelina Jolie‘s upcoming thriller Salt. Due out July 23, my birthday yay the film centers around mysterious Evelyn A. Salt (Jolie), a CIA operative trying to clear her name. The role was intended for Tom Cruise but was rewritten for Jolie after he dropped out. It looks pretty good!

Precious exceeded expectations this weekend and grossed a whopping $1,800,000 from just 18 theaters over the weekend. The film averaged about $100,000 per theater- a pretty rare accomplishment. That gives it the third best live action per-theater-average of all time, surpassed only by 2006’s Dreamgirls and 2005’s Brokeback Mountain.
Precious was distributed by Lionsgate, who had acquired the film shortly after Sundance in a competitive bidding war. The deal, brokered by Cinetic, was said to be worth $5.5 million, and weaved in the support of both Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, who came on board as executive producers. I’m excited to see this film. It looks amazing… I predict Oscar noms next year 🙂

Mel B and Eva Mendes attend the screening of Bad Liutenant in Hollywood. Above, Mel B is wearing a black shirt dress and fishnets. Eva Mendes is wearing a multi colored sparkly Chris Benz dress. I don’t hate it, but I’m not sure if I like it either. Great shoes though. Thoughts?

Earlier in the week, celebs were out walking the red carpet for the screening of Precious. This highly anticipated film is based on the novel Push by Sapphire. I cannot wait to see this film. The acting looks phenomenal. I end up tearing up every time I watch the trailer. Don’t judge me.
